Based in Yarmouth, on the southwestern tip of Nova Scotia, Canada, the Yarmouth Shantymen have been performing traditional work songs from the age of sailing ships since 1984. The group has produced three CD collections of shanties and other sea songs. Click the Navigation bar on Our Music to listen to samples and to order, and on Our Gigs to learn what we do in performance, and about booking us for your event. Yarmouth can boast an amazing history of sailing. The late 1870's and early 1880's was the "golden age of sail" for Yarmouth as the area had the second largest registry - by tonnage - in Canada. Yarmouth ships were found in every major seaport in the world. For more of the seafaring history of our town, visit our Links page |
